A company that organized a fantasy football event in Las Vegas featuring Tony Romo and other NFL stars is suing the league for more than $1 million in damages, according to multiple reports.
Fan Expo LLC is accusing the NFL of illegal interference with its National Fantasy Football Convention, which was supposed to take place earlier in July.
Romo formed a partnership with a Dallas entrepreneur to hold the event at a convention center attached to The Venetian in Las Vegas from July 10-12. It was set to feature NFL stars Odell Beckham Jr., Rob Gronkowski, and Dez Bryant, in addition to Romo and others.
The league shut the event down under its anti-gambling policy, though the organizers allege it did not violate the terms of that policy.
"If we had known about the issue of the place or thought that was something that could've been an issue, the NFL could have told us right away," Romo said on ESPN's "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" in June. "The NFL never called me or my agency or the NFFC."
